She has wings: VLVS tutorial

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and this time I made an art  journal page tutorial.
I know that making art page tutorial is almost mission impossible. There is no right or wrong way to make the art page and there is no workshop that can teach you " copy writing" of those book pages.
So it's just to show you my way to use products and to cluster techniques on one single page  with just  bit of real dimension.
Step by step instructions:
1. Gather your favorite VLVS backgrounds and make  a full letter size stamped piece with them.  I wanted those stamps to stay a background ones, so I used VersaMark ink and white embossing powder only.
Most of the stamps are not even masked, but just stamped one near another.

2. Grab you three primary Staz-On inks (Blazing Red, Azure and Mustard) and ink the stamped page with a mix of them. As you can see those 3 primary colors give us the full rainbow effect. I need to say that this works much better over the glossy paper, but I was short of the glossy one and used the regular Mixed Media thick white paper.

3. Now we need to add some dimension and the best way to do it on Mixed Media piece is with stencils and some paste. The paste I used is our Israeli Sand Texture one, but it's just similar to any non smooth texture paste on the market. I used a couple of Tando Creative stencils around the page and left the central part clean as we are going to add the focal point there anyway. Let the paste dry.

4. While waiting for the texture paste to dry, I stamped my big focal image using  Whimsical Lettered Man stamp. I know it's a man; so what? It looks like a strong courageous woman to me, kind of an Amazon.
I decided to use pigmented ink and clear embossing powder for this main image: glossy one and durable too as it goes to the front.
5. As I was still waiting for the texture paste to dry I heat embossed a pair of bare chipboard wings with a mix of colorful embossing powders and added a bit of clear glitter too.

6. From this point and on it was just to arrange all pieces over the background and to add whatever you want to add.
So I added a bit of stamped blue images using Solid  circles  stamp and  Butterflies row stamp.
I arranged the hand cut head and the wings over the page. Then I stamped two sentiments with the same Crafter's ink over the sticky canvas (this is a perfect ink  for  fabric stamping and all you need to do is to heat it/iron it to make it permanent). Some splashes of mists were added and my art page was done.

Here are a couple of close- ups to this page:

As you can see this time I decided to make a page according to sentiments. If it says" bold and bright"-  it will be bold and bright, even if those are not my usual art colors.
Thanks for reading my tutorial and see you soon again!

IBS July release: Summer Warbler

Hello my dear crafty  friends and welcome  our Inspired by Stamping July release and today it's all about birds day!
Do you know that my friend MYNN has a great giveaway and you still have time (not much) to enter! So visit her blog HERE!
This most gorgeous Summer Warbler set is a free set of the release and you can find how  you can get it by going to IBS SHOP!
As for me, I loved this set so much that I made 2 cards.
The first is a " normal" stamped card with pretty papers, layers, punches and embellishments and I like the final result a lot. And I adore this great sentiment!

But the second card/art piece- this is a totally another planet of my crafting.
I made a pure Mixed Media cards with stencils, texture paste, lots of paints, mists, heat embossing, gel medium and ... You name it- I used it. The sentiment was stamped over the tissue as it's quite impossible to stamp over such a irregular texture.

It's a great example of the same stamp- two ways. Totally different and still equally beautiful.

Chalkboard deco with TPD

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my last (long month with 5 projects) Two Paper Divas post.נ
This time I made this self made To do list chalkboard holder and yes, this is a real chalkboard cardstock  where you can write things with real chalk. So to make it intersting I stamped this gorgeous TPD To do list image  from Paper Elements 1 set over black chalkboard cardstock (DCWV) and heat embossed it with white powder as I want it to stay like forever. Who I am kidding? Maybe for a few weeks if we write and wipe and rewrite and wipe. But then we can always  stamp another board and another and another. Just buy this stamp and you can do it forever! By the way- you can paint the back side of this triangle stand with black chalkboard paint and yo use a chalkboard marker for your extra notes too, such as a shopping lists.
I made the texture flourish with Tando mask and texture paste and heat embossed it with some clear glitter.

IBS RELEASE WEEK: Poppies

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to Inspired by Stamping July stamp release!
Today I am going to share my Poppies card with you. O love poppies and I adore this new IBS Poppies set. I even tried a totally new for me technique today (even two): first I made a kind of " no line" water coloring images stamping and then I arranged this image in two levels over the finished card using card making dies.

And this is how I made this card:
1. I stamped the both Poppies stamps over the cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed  with white embossing powder.
2. I colored the inside of all embossed images with watercolor paints.
3. I added a heat embossed stamped sentiment from the same Poppies set.
4. Some watercolor mist was added over the  whole piece.
5. I made two die cuts with  card making set of dies and made the outer and the inner frames and then arranged those frames over the black cardstock. I added 3d foam glue  to adhere the inner frame and to make it pop a bit.
6. Some pearls  and mist splashes were added randomly over the finished card.

Faux stone jewelry with Makin's Clay and Rubber Dance stamp

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Makin's Clay July blog post.
July is a summer time. And summer time means shore, sea, beach , pebbles and even lovely stones. Lately I see a lot of stone painted projects over the web. But how about stone jewelry? Not sure my poor neck can stand the weight of stones. And on the other side to drill the holes in stones? Mission impossible even for the dentist.
But then, how about to make some clay faux stones? Light weight, easy made holes and still looks like the real thing. Almost a real thing.
So here is my tutorial about making Faux Stones and even arranging them into a lovely jewelry piece.

Products used:
Makin's Clay White
Makin's Clay Round cutters
 Roller tool
Acrylic paints- yellow, brown, black- Plaid
Rubber Dance  Celestian  images stamp
Yellow mist
Beads

You can see full step by step instructions in Makin's Clay blog HERE!

ESF Altered jar tutorial

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new post made with Earth Safe Finishes gorgeous products.
This time I altered a glass jar and this was a kind of a "lets make a project , but I am not going to use it after all" thing.
My craft table is very small. And over this small table I keep my old and huge PC, all my trimmers, left over paper pieces and ... You name it. So to put a glass jar, even altered and beautiful, is a real danger. One extra movement and my craft room will be full of glass all over it. But then those blog posts are a kind of a learning experience and  this is a reason I finally altered this glass jar.

Products used:
ESF products
Chalk it Up- Plum Preserves paint

Chalk It Up- English Tea Cake Paint

Hearts and swirls Tando and Rubber Dance

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new blog post.
This time I made a couple of matched ATC cards with gorgeous Rubber Dance stamps and some Tando products.
The swirls were made with texture paste and Tando  Long Flourish  mask. Then I heat embossed the wet paste with embossing glitter. The golden hearts- Rubber Dance lovely  Arty Hearty stamps- were stamped with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with gold powder. Then I added some red stamped Love words from the very same stamp set and some Tando gold heat embossed  chipboard symbols.
It's just my tribute to those hash tags and site symbols and all this media thing. Even love is now public!

Summer PHP blog hop

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my PHP summer projects post.
This week our Paper House Productions girls are celebrating Summer and we are going to share dozens of our new SUMMER projects. And here are a couple of mine.
This new lo I made for myself, I and me... I am not much a " selfie" scrapper, but when I have the  right products  that fit a fair photo, I do make such layouts. So here is one of those " about me" pieces.
I used Paper House Productions themed  papers and stickers and the photo was just a perfect match to the background paper. But is was too dull. So I ended with Tando stencil and WOW! Embossing Powders
" sunshine" made with texture paste and heat embossing over the wet surface. Then I stamped over the background with  Inspired by Stamping Seaside set.
Then I found this perfect FabScraps chipboard title and with a little help of VersaMark and embossing powder I made it shiny and a good fit to the " sun" above. It was this European summer in Latvia... Summer without sun. So I added one and made it my special summer vacation page.

The second piece is this Endless Summer layout and it's easy to make with just PHP papers and stickers and some gorgeous Summer photos only.

My second son lives in Ibiza, Spain and this is a little paradise island and I got some paradise summer  from him and it was a fun to make an easy made scrapbooking page with just 3 photos, great scrapbooking PHP paper, photo shot stickers, cork'd stickers and just a bit of blue (like water) mists.
Also I had some PHP palm tree stickers, I decided to add a couple of my own die cuts (just to feel that I am a bit more creative). But if you are not into a die cutting, you can easily use PHP cork's or die cut  palm stickers exactly in the middle, where I added my heat embossed home made die cuts.

Never stop art deco with VLVS

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my very first post on VLVS team.
This is an inspirational post and not a tutorial, so I am just going to share my thoughts, tips and the way I worked on this art journal page.
Lot of people ask me about the way I get my inspiration. Usually I begin with products I own. Like if I need to make a project for a stamp company, I try to figure what stamps I have and how I can combine them into a finished art piece.
As I already own quite a lot of VLVS stamps (about a hundred, I think) it was not so easy to group them into  some themes and to see what stamps are going to be used for the first project.
So I grouped the circles first as they were pretty large.
The huge Clock face,Coffee ring  stain, Solid color wheel and  another circles were the first. Then I  began to look for something that is connected to circles and to time and the result was this song line that says" Going in circles like a faceless clock with a timeless hope that never stop".
Perfecto! Now I looked for an image of someone who  was standing, walking scrolling etc. The only one I found in my stash was this Businessman Silhouette , but it was the best of the best. I stamped him on the corner as this was my whole page anchor and added Brick background around him. All stamping process over this page done with pigmented inks and clear embossing powder and all inks I used are Clearsnap Crafter's inks as those are very wet and perfect for heat embossing inks.
Now I started the process that was to stamp all images with different colored inks and to make the circled
background and to arrange the circles to the way that will make my stickers sentiment placement possible.
On the way I added more circled  VLVS  images around as  you can see on the full product list below.

The whole piece was misted, inked and painted with a wide mix of Gelatos, mists and acrylic paints and I even added some spots of gel medium around before (those are bare, non colored spots).

I arranged the sentiment around the circles and added this huge NEVER STOP central title with vinyl stickers.
Then I just added a couple of metal clock pieces and some glitter over the glue.

VLVS stamps used to make this project:
Solid color wheel-Item 19339 Plate 1435
Thick to thin round-Item 900 Plate 272
Coffee ring stain-Item 19230 Plate 926
Color wheel lines-Item 19338 Plate 1435
Hand holding circle- Item 15977 Plate 1271
Charred wood background- Item 16387 Plate 1301
Bussinessman silhouette-Item 19418 Plate 1440

I hope I inspired  you a bit with my way of making art journal pieces and you are welcome to try this way of  creating art.

My new design adventure

I enter this piece to a couple of web challenges too:

Congrats summer tag with TPD

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new post made for Two Paper Divas stamp company.
I always try to make different projects. So this month I already made a couple of book marks, a gift card bag holder and a card. Now it's a TAG time, so I made a tag.
Tags are lovely; tags are easy to make; tags are useful and tag are just fun.
So this tag was a lot of fun to make: from layered cardstock, glittered glue strips, washi tape, adhesive lace to stickers, ribbons and .... Stamping, you got it. And these stamped  TPD Delightful sunflowers were colored with markers too. So new for me as I  usually use watercolors or distress markers only. I think that it's not bad for the first try. Don't you think so?

ARTplorations Tropical tag

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new Mixed Media tag post made for ARTplorations blog.
This time I decided to combine two different stencils over one single tag and to make the textured background using different mediums.
The first layer was made with  Botanical Lush stencil and Faber Castell DMC gelatos. I just grabbed a few of myGelatos and added them " as is" over the stencil.
The second layer was made with  Faber Castell DMC Gel Medium and Bubbles stencil and after it was dry (quite a lot of waiting time) the bubbles became clear and I just added green mist all over the background and wiped the clear bubbles to get this almost white look.
As the main focal point I added Die Versions palm trees  die cut  (this is just a  part of the bigger die with a small  house on it, but I just used a part of the die cut on the tag). The die cut was covered with a mix of glitters and I added a small metal bird charm over the tag too. Some ribbon was glued on the bottom of my tag and some was tied on the top.

I hope you like my Mixed Media tag and will try the stencil over stencil technique using you favorite painting mediums and clear mediums.
I enter this tag to Faber Castell DMC monthly challenge for Green.

IBS monthly challenge post

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my new post made for Inspired by Stamping company.
This time we all were asked to make a card or another project with IBS sketch, colors or products for a monthly challenge.
I picked the sketch and made this lovely card with two of my most favorite  new released stamps sets:
I stamped over the patterned paper and heat embossed it with clear powder. The sentiment was stamped the same way over the tag and the basic card to make some connection between the pieces.
I decided to leave it in this flat clean and simple style  with just two small pieces of washi tape that connect the tag to the card.
Now it's your turn! Play with IBS monthly challenge and you can win some gorgeous goodies!

Ann Butler's and Deflecto blog hop

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to Ann Butler's and Deflecto blog hop.
Ann Butler's team got a couple of clear frames to alter. I need to say that I ruined the smaller one trying to use texture paste over stencils and  I didn't really love the result.
So I moved to Plan B and this was " make something cute and easy that anyone can make and try not to ruin the second piece too".
And this  large Deflecto frame is what I made after all.
I used medical tape (kind of thick washi white tape) and colored it with Ann Butler's Crafte's inks from Clearsnap. 4 colors were used here: Berry, Sunshine, Aquamarine and Limelight.
With the very same colors I inked  some small bare wooden buttons and after those were totally dry, I added them over the tape.
The inside piece is my tribute to this " Keep Calm" slogans all over the web. My way to see it became to
"Keep Calm and.... whatever" and I really like my own slogan.

And this is a kind of " less is more" project after all. I like the colors of the frame and I would use it  as a part of my home decoration.
And here is the list of all designers on this hop:

Always have Paris with Rubber Dance

Hello my dear crafty friends! Today I am going to share my new small chipboard Printers tray that I made with Tando Creative chipboards, Paper House Productions Paris range and delicious Travel stamps from Rubber Dance.
I design for Tando Creative for 5 years and those printer's tray were and still are my most favorite Tando products. And when you add gorgeous themed paper and fantastic stamps, your Paris becomes a real thing.
I used this Casablanca movie line as my title (a bit of a change as  was " We 'll always have Paris" and I made it " May we always have Paris", but it's still about love and memories and .... Paris , of course.
The background was stamped and heat embossed and misted and trimmed and  I had fun to make it.
I used quite a lot of RD stamps to make this background:
Collage elements 1- the clock (I cut the top to fit the spot)
Vintage birds- Bird post stamp
Travel set- Eiffel tower
Da Vinci set-Horse rider
Circle post stamp from the new Envelope set
The chipboard  frame was heat embossed with a mix of copper and teal powders to get this  aged look.
The window of mini windows Tando set was made in the same way and glued on the bottom.\
I also added Tando's chipboard piece on the top that was heat embossed with white (dirty  white ) powder.
A few Paris stickers were added inside the tray- 3d stickers and photo shot one.All together this piece was misted with teal and pink mists.

I enter this Mixed Media piece to a few web challenges:
Travel- 13 arts
Anything but cute challenge- Summer romance and here is their mood board
