He was my hero lo

This lo was published in August 2010 issue of SNR magazine

This lo was a GEM OF THE WEEK of 5/17 on Scrapbooking challenges blog- thanks!!
My DT challenge on GINGERSNAP CREATIONS was " read"- any kind, any way..
Also to use some letters stamp or some book page was an easy way- I decided to do a lo about a book.. And about " the book"- The Little prince by Antuane de Saint- Exepury was my ultimate choice and here it is- my He was my hero lo
My hero- both of them- the writer and a prince. I knew to quote every single page of this book - first the Russian translation, then the English and later the Hebrew one. I tried to read the French original- but my 3 years of highschool French was not enough- so I dropped the idea.
This is a pure non photo lo and here are the products:
AC light grey cardstock, Adornit pp(the sky), one stamp (" Draw me... ), paper rose, Pink paislee letters, some brads and lots of techniques.
I used some gesso and some recycled tissue paper for the " planet", pEper piecing of digi print for the prince,I printed the book cover on 5 languages,
used paints for the sea and the sky, distressed the alphas,
inked the covers, stamped the sheap and heat embossed it with dimentional white paint and did some journaling about the book I found on WIKIPEDIA
The digi cut of the plane is for the writer whose plane was missed over the sea in 1944.
And for the challenges:
Paints (the sky- sea- plane) for Scrap outside the box
Nothing new for Scrapfit
Not a card for My stampimg royalty
Sanding for Frosted designs- the letters are all sanded

We'll always have Paris lo

This page was published in SNR JUNE 2010 ISSUE
This lo was a winner on The pink elephant chipboard and paints challenge- thanks!!
I did this lo for my Kraft challenge on Gingersnap creations DT- but is was a statement: we can use our very old neglected stash and to get the most of it.
We can do great lo (as I really like this one) without using the whole lines of new papers and embellishments- we just need to think!!
So I decided to do this lo as I was organizing my very old chipboards - and these Provo craft ones were screaming to me " use us". All the rest was easy:
the plain craft paper got some " dressing up" with home made glimmer mists and huge chipboard circle as a home made mask I keep just for this kind of misting.
Then I stamped lots of white images and heat embossed them, added some brown inked Tim Holtz french stamps on the top, inked and distressed the paper. Here we are- one craft paper, no designers at all.
Then I found this old Orient express ad on the web together with this french lady I got once as a RAK (just added some cut out of this image)- this one was laminated so it shines a bit.
The MME journaling tags were the Rak I just got a few days ago and they are.. French!! and from 2007. I did some random journaling - like the name of the city in English/ French, Russian and Hebrew, connected the city sights with this recycled string, added some music twill ribbon for my love for French chansons (hope this is the way I should write it- not sure, my French is not very great - 3 years in high school and .... nothing at all I remember..), fleur de lis brads,Mona Lisa stamp in home die cut frame and some vintage button were the last touch..
And the title? Ok, one of the greatest movies ever.. Give it a guess..
The biggest problem with this title is that you can never did it with one pack of letters- so here we have 5!! packs- all used and some very old too.
And as I was thinking about other web challenges doing this- here they are
No photo lo- for BASB
Recipe for Craftstic- cardstock background, journaling blocks (their own Rak I won),lots of stamped images, yellow color of brads.
Recipe for Mission create- no pp, stamping, game pieces- 5 of them on Paris label on the suitcase
Chipboard and paints for Pink elephant
Distressing for Prarie fairy

LIFE IS A GAME LO

This no photo lo was made for my very first DT job on Gingersnap creations challenge blog. I am really thrilled to be there and I hope to stand be their standarts (very high one actually)

So for this blog you need to be a creative stamper (I am not- I stamp just a bit on my pages)- and the decision to do " no photo" was as I needed space for techniques. So here they are:

misting, plain stamping, resist ( on these puzzle shapes), inking, distressing, heat embossing , using " founded objects " as this eas the challenge!!

So I found some playing cards, some cardboard, dominos, some play dies, some newpaper crosswords, old chinese coin and paly dies and non used stamp " game" set ...

And this Alice in Wonderland bunny is just right here- as all the book is full of games and card characters ..
And here it is - life is a game- you just need to know how to play it.. Any kind goes- if you win.
And as for other challenges:
Use a neglected stamp ( all game set is a year old and never used ) for Fab and funky
Anything goes for Penny's
Metal for Quixotic- coin, letters
Distressing for Totally paper crafts
Distressing for Sophysticat

Bronze hamsa

I did this Hamsa (Israeli " good luck" item) for my new and very exiting DT
- GINGERSNAP ..
This was a very fast item to do as I needed to do it after I was entered to DT to introduce myself
This group is mostly mixed media and stamping artists- so I was very thrilled to be a part of this great names DT .
As the " entry" we need to do some ginger color artwork and I decided to do a
Hamsa - the altered item we hang on the wall for good luck. We also add some home or other blessing on it usually- but this one is more for display and less for luck- so it's without the blesssing.
I used this acrylic shape from both sides of it.
The back is covered with very thick homemade paper I painted with bronze paint. On the front I stamped and heat embossed some butterflies from this great new set I won on Clearly inspired blog and then added some bronze Pearl ex powder all over.2 other butterflies are die cut and embossed from a foil- but as I only had silver foil I painted them as well and then accidently decided to dry with my heat gun.. Part of the paint melted and it gave them this funny and unsxpected look.
The sun shape was a curtain holder- I love to use all this recycled items on my work. The last touch was some blings, lace, yarn and a title made with very old ABC metal set- but usuful one.
But as always with me this one was done for some more web challenges
