Resist mosaic technique tutorial for SNR weekly blogger

This post here was made for our SNR magazine staffers blog spotlighting and after you read this post you are very welcome to jump to SNR Magazine and to see all the rest of goodies we have for you on boards and in the our very new ( on line today) September issue of a magazine. Any kind of inspiration you need- scrapbooking pages, cards, mixed media, altered, tutorials- we have it for you there
And now for my new (3 rd) Fall tag I made just to show you the use of plain white office store A4 stickers with stamping and re-arrangement of them on the tag for your very own unique background

Step one: Take the background clear stamps you want to use and arrange them on the block or just pull your favorite rubber ones
I used here a half of this stickers piece- but if you can do all A4 and to keep it for the future projects- you are welcome to use the whole A4 piece
Stamp with a white pigment ink all over your stickers. Heat emboss it with a clear embossing powder- don't overheat here as we want our stickers be sticky after all and not a hot mess. Let it cool a bit

Step 2:Ink the embossed piece with distress inks as much as you want- do not use more than 3-4 shades unless you want it to be a mud
Cut the A2 piece into 3 thirds- we are going to use one third here and to keep the rest for the future

Step 3: Cut your chosen third into a half , take a tag your want to alter (I did my own one from orange AC cardstock ) and begin to stick your stamped and embossed stickers all over your tag- make it as some kind of mosaic and cut your pieces as mush as you need to cover the tag completely with some pattern
Ink the finished background with a bit of brown distress ink and wipe the ink from the embossed pieces. Your own background is done now

Step 4: Collage your tag pieces. This is usually a part I skip in my tutorials
as it's up to you to decide what do you want to add to your tag
I used some 7Gypsies ATC tag stapled with the matching transparency, added an eyelet and some twine, some leaves, a flower, some blings and an inked AC alphas- but it's you decision how much to add and where
Now just pull this stickers we all have and begin to play with them
And don't forget to jump to SNR magazine

1-2-3 ... and smile lo

This page was published in Oct/Nov 2010 issue of SNR magazine
This page made TOP 3 on Frosted designs cut a photo challenge- thanks
After some long vintage period I decided to jump to playful page and pulled some great photos of my dear American niece Tamar and my daughters, These photos were taken in Jerusalem on Tamar's 6 th B- day just before my sister and her family went back to NY where they live. And Tamr was a bit sad about it and didn't want to smile.. And this explains the title and the celebration banners and the cut out of her photo is because the background was some half of an uncle that needed to be out- so I popped the cut with 3d pop dot.. The hand prints on the banners are for dirty hands of all of us- the park where we celebrated had no runing water.
I made some "mixed" journaling using Prima spot with " Today was... "+hand writing " a day full of" and added a real stamp with " love on it". The other part of journaling was from Creative imagintaions jouranling strips - totally cute kid, bits and pieces and real life
The jumping girl was cut from Daisy bucket pp, the banners- from Daisy D's pp and I used AC cardstock as a base and as a red border punched matting and the yealow glitter one is DCWV
The tytle is AC foam thickers, ribbons- one from Prima and one from Michaels,flowers- Prima
The clown card is from some kids non scrappy set, the finger- stamped, buttons- from here and there (she is cute as a buttons.. lots of them)
And as never can stop- the Ek sticker bird was added over the banner.. And I still have lot of white (green) space- but I did stopped aftr all

Welcome vintage plate

This  plate won a  hanger challenge on Our vintage affair- thanks
This vintage welcome sign is the first one I do for my own family- all the rest were presents
I did the house shape from a thin acrylic piece using my dental tools (sometime it's great to be a dentist) - the diamonds cut this acryl in a seconds and them I have great burnishing tools too.
So I decided to leave it clear and only use some distress stickle glue for border outlining.
The inner sign was TH home die cut- partly made as a faux rust and the main part was resist stamped and inked.Them I used some old and vintage items and some very new ones for this unusual mix and SHALOM is our family name but also HELLO and Piece in Hebrew.
And as for the challenges:
Distress for ABC
Anything goes for Spoon full of sugar
Fall colors for Crafty creations-
Autumn for Everybody- art
Not a cards for Stamping royalty
Old items- for Corrosive
Shaped for Cow girls
Heat embossing (the resist on the sign plate)- for Crafty pad
Fall colors for Craft your days away

Earrings holder

My very first DT job for my new design team on Pocket ful of posies challenge blog.. These one is all about flowers blog- so very my style.. I also did it with Tando creative flourish- using this huge chipboard shape as some earrings holder. This Tando piece was painted with some distress inks and then covered with clear crackle paint for great vintage look. The base is Tattered angels embossed chipboard misted and inked over embossed design.
I used some vintage jewel piece on the corner, some prima flowers with white lace flowers added for the centers and some blings too. The erarrings here are my work using Swarovsky crystals - just to show the use of this altered piece.
And as always- some challenges too
Distress for Sir stampalot

Grace lo

This page was published in Oct/Nov 2010 issue of SNR magazineThis page made Top 3 on Pearls and gems challenge on Stamp and create- thanks
I am back from my North Italy vacation(great nature photos too- not developed yet..) and had to do a page.. As Venice was full of these carnival masks- I bought some 1$ magnets (lots of them actually) and had to do something with one of them. My twins S. America carnival photos were perfect for this page- and as I got some ver new Prima goodies I did it using Prima BAP September sketch.
All of this page is Prima, but a pink doily, the mask and the title which was a Rak I got from Artastic challenge win and it's A2Z scraplets die cut covered with pearl Ranger liquid glue.
As for techniques- not so much- some distressig with inks, some paper cuts from pp,pained white flower, using some Prima packaging (the transparent doily) and some hand stitching
I also used my very favorite Hebrew poem for my journaling . It's Leah Shapiro " NEAR" and the quote says the following:
And your name will be a music and this music will give you some light , some kindness and some grace... OK- not so great translation, it's much much better in Hebrew, but my girls names are some kind of " music" (one means morning dew drops and second means small flower bud) and they are full of grace, light and kindness.
And as for some challenges more than this Prima sketch- not too much. as the web is full of fall and thanksgiving and operation write home and this is not one of them.

1 ST DAY lo

This page was published in Oct/Nov 2010 issue of SNR magazine

I did this page as a guest designer for Scrap that poetry blog after I won their HOME challenge and the poem was about the first day at school. So I grabbed my twins first grade " public" photo and did this page using a lot of real schol supplies- 4 pencils and a ruller as a borders and some kit goodies I won on Up the street kit ckub a month ago- but as usual with me- I could fit in this one kit so I used lettering from 3 other sets, photo corner, a number border, bingo card and a trnasparent saying from my stach- everything else was in this great kit I won.
And the saying on the blackboard in Hebrew isa the very usual : Hello first grade!- I did it hand write as it is in real class. And as for the year- 1992 was so long ago- I can do first day in army or college - and even those days are gone..
And as for techniques- not so much here-some dry embossing with my very new folder, some inking around, hand cut circles from pp and distressing and hand writing..

Sing- mini album

This folded mini album done from one 12*12 piece of cardstock was " my baby" a year ago-
as I thought then I was a first one to do this kind of folding(not found then on the web... but sorry if it's not mine- as far as I knew more than a yer ago it was) Then it was something new I was a first one to do or at least first one to teach here in Israel..
So I decided to do another one again.
This is a very easy 2 cuts and some folds mini album and great as a small present with a space for some photos to add.. I used here the last piece of this music Dream street cardstock as a base and Tando creative chipboard from the Travel set as my title base. The chipboard was covered with kraft paper, painted around with pale rose acrylic paint and then stamped with white inked very distressed music notes stamp.
I also added some Prima studs, Q &CO music felt , stamped a ticket with Unity stamps and added some blings and bits all over. The inside was covered with Prima rub ons and journaling notes and the closure was made with this double sided zipper tape- sorry, forgot the actual name.. Sing title is for Sing your life- so any kind of photos can fit this one..
And now for the challenges- all vintage and shabby one will do here, all anything goes too, all not a card, flowers, blings, music- so it's good for lots of them.

His kind of pet lo- GDT for Artastic challenge blog

This page was published in Oct/Nov 2010 issue of SNR magazine
2-3 month ago Shazza Bishop from Artastic challenge blog asked me to be her guest designer for September.. So I got this inspiration artpiece- Frida Cahlo Self portreit with a monkey and the prompts and was absolutly out of ideas. The prompts are to use a photo with a pet, colors orange and brown and an exotic flower..
We have a great pet- white lazy cat named Milky- but exotic flower, orange and brown for our cat? So I just looked on all my photos and here it was- my son Amir petting the baby crocodile somewhere in exotic country (who knows where? He is a world traveller)
And here it is: His kind of pet page- with all prompts.. I stamped and heat embossed some white flowers over the page, added stickers!! (I buy them and never use - so thanks a lot from my sticker box for this challenge), used ribbons, twine, die cuts, buttons, transparency, 2 fonts of lettering, some hand journaling and I like this page even without all this 3d layers I usually do..
So if you like this challenge- go to Artastic and play with us! The prizes are great- I know as I won there about 3 times and there is my own prize too- I will pick my own winner for my great Rak- you can see it on Artastic blog and try to win it..
And for other challenges- not too much:
Orange- blue and brown- for Crafty catz
Charm - this blue pendant on the left corner- for ABC
